Placenta Encapsulation

Placenta encapsulation is the process of preparing your placenta after the baby’s birth. The ingestion of the placenta is known as “placentophagy”. The purpose of placentophagy anecdotally understood is to reintroduce beneficial vitamins, minerals, hormones, and other nutrients to help restore a more balanced body function, increase breastmilk production, shorten healing time, increase energy levels, and provide an overall feeling of wellness to aid in the fourth trimester transition between pregnancy and postpartum. 

The fee for this service is $180 which includes the preparation and encapsulation of the placenta, a storage container for the capsules, written instructions for storage and handling, and guidelines for taking your capsules. An umbilical cord keepsake and two placenta prints are also provided if possible. I request a deposit of $60 with the return of this contract due before 34 weeks to save your place in my calendar with the balance remaining due before your birth.

In the event your placenta is unavailable to you (e.g. sent to pathology and not released) or if you change your mind and choose to terminate this contract prior to releasing your placenta to me, I will refund everything paid except half of the deposit. I cannot refund after the preparation has begun even if you choose not to take the finished capsules. 

The placenta can be shipped to me if appropriately mailed in a refrigerated box and I will ship it back.
